Considering college?

Are you taking the correct steps to increase your chances?

Do you know what college is right for you?

Have you considered the cost?

These are just a few of the questions you either have considered or should consider. This page will help shed some light on these questions and point you to some useful tools and information. We will cover three major areas:

  1. Planning- Things to do that will increase you chances of being accepted to college.
  2. Selecting- Guide to help you identify what school would be the best fit for you.
  3. Financing- Financial Aid including grants, scholarships and student loans.

Note: In addition to the above items, student-athletes should become familiar with the information included in the Guide for the College-Bound Student-Athlete.

Before we go into the three major areas, here is a list (in order of importance) of what colleges look for when admitting students:

  1. Grades
  2. Classes
  3. Standardized Tests
  4. Extra-curricular and community involvement
  5. Application essay
  6. Recommendations

It is a good idea to keep these in mind while planning.
